It was more than we ever imagined it could be
The most wonderfully relaxed few days with Xavi, Gemma and TopWineExperience. From start to finish our trip was managed seamlessly. We visited three vineyards, all different, all providing in-depth knowledge of their wines and sharing information about sustainability and practices. Not to mention offering plenty of tasting opportunities! We stayed in a beautiful boutique hotel, also a winery and enjoyed fantastic food, wine pairings and beautiful sunsets. We can find no fault with our trip, it was more than we ever imagined it could be. If you’re looking for relaxing, indulgent and extra special wine trips, then we fully recommend TopWineExperience!!
First Class Wine Tour
My wife and I couldn’t praise our half day tour with Xavi enough. Great wineries, some excellent wines and the lunch was very tasty too, all with the expert guidance of Xavi.
He runs an excellent operation; from the moment I sent an email enquiry Xavi was fully engaged in organising the tour, offering suggestions to tailor the tour to our exact requirements and ensuring we had fun, then checking arrangements a couple of days beforehand. I had advised him at the time of booking that my wife had a foot injury so he ensured that the wineries were aware and were able to be flex the winery tours to accommodate suitable walking routes.
The day of the tour was cloudy and a little wet so Xavi’s planned early start to the day with a hilltop view of the area unfortunately didn’t offer the best panoramas. However we diverted instead to an unscheduled stop at a cafe for good coffee and pastries!
It was then onto the wineries: one medium sized cava producer followed by a natural winery close to Vilafranca. We had private tours at both wineries with excellent guides, who gave us insights into their histories and their wines, visiting the ‘caves’, the bottling and barrel storage areas and then onto the tastings: the first in a beautiful tasting room and the second as part of our lunch.
We then had the opportunity at each location to get wine shipped home (which we did).
Xavi has great knowledge of the area and the industry, is very personable and a good driver too, a combination that make for a successful tour operator. The tour van was also both clean and very comfortable.
I’ve been on several wine tours in many countries but this certainly was one of the best. Xavi’s philosophy of ensuring that the tour is not just about drinking the output at each location but also about taking your time to learn about the winery, the winemakers and the terroir followed by a relaxed tasting makes perfect sense.
We would definitely use TopWineExperience again.... next stop Priorat!
